How to stay fit and enjoy the festive season
Parties, drinks, delicious food, treats,... December is here and 'tis the season to enjoy & let loose. It can get pretty hectic during this time of the year and we know it can be hard to stay active. You might think you can't handle it all, but that's why we’re here to tell you that you CAN do it!
These are our five tips to stay fit this holiday season.
1. Drink a lot of water
We all know drinking water is extremely important, but did you know that drinking plenty of water suppresses appetite and boosts your metabolism, which will help you digest all the food, treats and alcohol faster? Drink your 8 glasses of water a day, your body will thank you!
Pro tip: Get yourself a water bottle and keep it with you at all times.
2. Optimisation is key
Even though December is the month of fun activities, it is also a very busy time of the year. If your day doesn't have enough hours, wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual and get a quick morning workout in, walk to work or plan outdoor activities with your family. Walking is underrated and you don't have to over do it every single day, nor do your workouts have to last over an hour.
3. Workout with a friend
Make your workouts a time to socialize! Buddy up with your friend or a family member and go to a workout class where you will be surrounded with people that will motivate you to get through this month as fit as possible.
4. Be realistic
The biggest tip we can give you is to not be too hard on yourself. Give yourself time to rest and regenerate. Rather aim for a 20 min walk than a 1 hour workout, if you don't feel like it or don't have the time. It’s the consistent and realistic approach that really matters.
5. Enjoy yourself
Don't be too hard on yourself. This is the time to enjoy and to not think about every single calorie on the plate. Don't cut out your favorite foods or drinks, just remember that everything is fine as long as it's done in moderation.
With that said we wish you a wonderful and merry month of December. Enjoy the holiday season to the fullest!
